Daisy, the UK’s largest independent specialist communications business, has taken a significant step forward in its sustainability journey with the installation of solar panels and electric vehicle (EV) chargers at its head office in Nelson, Lancashire.

The major investment includes 447 solar panels, with the system’s projected annual output estimated at 172,670 kWh, the equivalent to powering approximately 92 electric vehicles for a year.

Further supporting its environmental goals, Daisy has recently installed six EV chargers in its main car park, enabling up to 12 vehicles to charge simultaneously. The chargers don’t only benefit the environment; they provide flexible charging options for staff and are compatible with a wide range of vehicle makes and models.

This initiative aligns with Daisy’s ongoing sustainability goals of becoming carbon neutral by 2030. As an advocate for sustainability, Daisy is dedicated to minimising energy consumption, reducing waste and optimizing efficiency across its property portfolio.

Steve Wilkes, Procurement Director at Daisy, commented,
“This project illustrates Daisy’s commitment to environmental matters. It is just one of many initiatives that the organisation has successfully undertaken, with several more currently in development.”
The company also champions the circular economy, extending the lifecycle of company vehicles, mobile phones and IT equipment. By generating its own solar power and transitioning its fleet to fully electric vehicles, Daisy is significantly cutting its reliance on grid electricity, reinforcing its mission to drive sustainable change.
Steve continued, “By installing solar panels and EV chargers, it has enabled our staff to reduce energy consumption and minimise their environmental impact. Daisy’s sales strategy supports this goal by promoting energy-efficient equipment and services with a focus on hosted solutions that naturally require less power to operate.”
